Manager Underwriting Liability - The Netherlands

Ready to shape the future of Zurich’s Liability business in the Netherlands? 

As Manager Underwriting Liability, you will lead an experienced team of seven underwriters and help set the direction of our Dutch Liability portfolio. You will combine people leadership with hands-on underwriting, staying close to brokers and customers while identifying opportunities for profitable, sustainable growth. 

Reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer, you will work with colleagues across the Benelux and have the opportunity to make a visible impact on our business, our people and our position in the Dutch market.

• Lead, coach and develop a team of seven Liability underwriters, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment where people can perform at their best. 

• Set the direction for our Dutch Liability portfolio and turn strategy into clear priorities that support profitable, sustainable growth. 

• Use portfolio performance, pricing and market insight to make informed underwriting decisions and identify new opportunities. 

• Stay connected to the market by managing your own portfolio of key accounts and building trusted relationships with brokers and customers. 

• Strengthen Zurich’s position in the Dutch Liability market by working closely with distribution partners and identifying opportunities for new business. 

• Collaborate with colleagues and specialists across the Benelux to develop solutions and propositions that respond to changing customer and market needs. 

What you will bring 

You understand the Corporate Liability market and know what it takes to build a healthy portfolio. Just as importantly, you enjoy developing people, bringing colleagues together and turning ideas into action. 

You may already lead an underwriting team, or you may be an experienced Liability professional with a strong track record of coaching and mentoring others who is ready to take the next step in leadership. 

• A Master’s degree, preferably in Law or a related field. 

• At least eight years of experience in Corporate Liability underwriting. 

• People leadership experience or a strong track record of coaching and developing others. 

• Strong technical underwriting expertise combined with commercial and analytical judgement. 

• Experience contributing to profitable growth and portfolio performance. 

• Strong relationships within the Dutch broker market and the ability to build trusted partnerships. 

• A strategic mindset and the ability to turn plans into action. 

• Fluency in Dutch and English.
